@argofowl
introducing namethatui.com
a dictionary for ui things you can see but can’t name
made it because i’m primarily a designer, and my biggest resistance was always knowing what things are called when prompting my agents

the amount of times I've told a coding agent “make it look like the thing with the dots” is embarrassing

This solves a problem most designers don't realize they have. Half the battle isn't finding inspiration, it's knowing what to call the UI pattern so you can search or prompt for it. Simple idea, but genuinely useful.

amazing resource that highlights just how much of a roadblock our (in)ability to adequately describe things can be. great work

@heypearlai
This feels like a missing piece of the AI design workflow.
Clio

“name that” is such a nice concept so we stop asking the LLM to make things “pretty” or “professional” or “polished”

@aiseomastery
This is really smart, I always end up describing a button instead of just naming it.

What you get
Paid upfront. First right to renew when the 30 days end. The line’s exact wording is agreed together over email before anything goes live, and brands that don’t fit the audience are declined.
What stays out, on purpose
- No tracking pixels and no third-party scripts. The link carries rel=“sponsored”.
- No influence over entries, definitions, or search rankings. The dictionary stays editorial.
- No guaranteed clicks or conversions. You are sponsoring a young, fast-growing reference site.
Supporter
$250 for 30 days · up to three
The smaller thank-you: a labeled spot in the footer of every page, where up to three supporter names take gentle turns. Same rules as above, smaller words, gentler price.
Want a slot?
Say who you are and what you make. The line’s wording gets agreed over email, and if the fit is right you can be live the same day.
